Addressing a group of presidential candidates, Atmar said the nation and the candidates are awaiting President Ghani\u2019s decision after May 22 which he said is the end of the National Unity Government\u2019s term according to the Constitution.<\/p>\n

Atmar said the country will face a crisis if the incumbent government continued its term after May 22.<\/p>\n

He reiterated that Ghani\u2019s term has ended and the continuation of his term will create a crisis in the country and the president will be held responsible for that.<\/p>\n

Atmar offered President Ghani to be head of a caretaker government but quit from his candidacy in the upcoming elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want that a caretaker government should be established, we want that if he (President Ghani) he should quit from his candidacy if he wants to continue his tenure and he should form a national collective for monitoring the elections. If it is not possible, we will go for the second option which is obvious\u00a0who will be its caretaker,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf he (President Ghani) does not respect the two options, we have the third option. We will continue political pressure by bringing the nation and the political forces together,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He mentioned that all their moves will be made within the law.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy last message to Mr. President and his respected colleagues is that\u00a0your tenure has ended. The continuation of your work will prove your \u2018illegitimacy\u2019. Your illegitimacy will affect the honor of the presidency and this will pave the way for a crisis (in the country),\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Atmar said to reach their demands, the presidential candidates will continue their political pressure on the government.<\/p>\n

The country will face a \u201cpolitical instability\u201d if President Ghani continues to pressurize the Supreme Court to extend his term.<\/p>\n

Atmar said the incumbent government is not committed to peace and that it is trying to postpone peace until the elections to earn another five years.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThe failure of the intra-Afghan talks in Doha was a big failure for the peace process and we see the government\u2019s wrong policy behind this failure,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The presidential candidates have consulted lawyers on the decision of the Supreme Court to extend President Ghani\u2019s term, he said, adding that that according to lawyers, the Supreme Court \u201ccannot interpret the Constitution\u201d.<\/p>\n

He said there is no guarantee that the incumbent government will announce another delay in the presidential elections which has been postponed two times.<\/p>\n

According to Atmar, the incumbent government has no will to bring transparency to the elections. He says the parliamentary elections were a \u201cscandal\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
